My girlfriend and I are from Greensboro. I've only been to Asheville a handful of times (my little sister goes to Montreat College), and my girlfriend has only been once. We are both writers, and have been wanting to plan a writing week/end in a cabin in the area, but we don't know where. We're on a budget, and like to think that as long as there is electricity, indoor plumbing, and enough of a kitchen to make Mac n' Cheese in, we'll be happy.
Can anyone recommend a cheap cabin we could rent for a few days like this? Preferably in or around Asheville, but if it's a good price we'll go whereever it is.
Cheap might be difficult. I've spent past vacations in the area while visiting family locally, but at the time I had the money to go through realty companies (like Grey Beard) for rentals - especially in the Montreat area (where my mother and sister attended). What time of year? Sept is cheaper - after summer, and before the leaf-changing season. Craigslist has resonable listings, but you never know for sure what you're going to get.
How isolated do you want to be? Montreat does have a few smaller properties for rent. But, I suppose anywhere in the area will suffice?
