Default Just how bad is West Asheville?

Every time West Asheville gets mentioned here Asheville Native goes ape with warnings and dire predictions of rape and pillaging, etc. But if you stay away from Pisgah View and Deaver View how is the rest of the area? I'm thinking of that big area west of I240, SE. of Patton ave., and S. of Haywood Rd. all N. of the river. Guess I need to pull up the crime mapper and see what the stats say.

No rape and pillaging, just drug dealing, and associated crimes as people try to support the drug industry and habits. PV should be rezoned as an industrial park, as drugs are big business there.

West Asheville? Find a place west of I240, but yea pull up crime mapper.

North of the river?? The FB flows north/south through Asheville, and then cuts west near Amboy rd. Immediately north of the river is Pisgah View, right?

I also think east of 240 and north of Haywood is good too.

I think most of the people who hype the crime in West Asheville have never been out of Buncombe County.

Whenever I see that subject my first reaction is to wonder what the OP is comparing it to. I feel the same way about the subject of traffic.

The one thing I do see more than in previous places I've lived is arrests for things that make you scratch your head and realize Mensa was not going to post the person's bail.

So did you bite him?

I hope Mule was talking about things like the fireman that just took a shot at the biker then got fired by the AFD and indicted for assault with intent to kill. And the sheriff deputies and policemen making the headlines lately. And how about the 2 bozos busted for dragging a puppy down the street until its paws bled, etc. etc. etc. The online version of the CT is full of dumb things like that everyday.

Anyway, I was talking about the N. side of the FB along the line where it flows W-E and yes that is where PV is located. I'll have to check out the section you mentioned--that is around the Crown Plaza Resort right? Once you get outside the city limits there you're heading for Leicester and I think there are some nice houses in that area across the river form Woodfin too.

This is the section I was generally referring to:

Logan Ave, Asheville, NC 28806 - Google Maps

It's east of 240, but far enough north of Pisgah View. Heck, many of the houses a couple blocks from Pisgah View are quite expensive, so it can't be that bad.

The Crowne Plaza is north of Patton . . . not really familiar with it.

I haven't paid a lot of attention cause I don't live near there, but ain't a lot of that going to become I240 if/when they decide which design to use, and if/when they ever start widening I240/I26 connector?

hevelynndustin is on a distinguished road
i live in west asheville right behind patton ave. I like the area but south asheville is really developing (if I had the money and wasnt so familiar with patton I would live there) and I have to drive to east asheville for the mall and shopping and such but I would never live in east asheville because theres a lot of ghettos and such. But as long as youre not in deaverview or pisgah view youre fine. Although I would never recommend asheville to anyone who like to do anything past 9pm.
