Truth is we have our share of people wearing their religion on their shirt sleeve. Most mean no harm by it. Those of us who don't share their views are not affected by it, other than to find the lines in the grocery store or a nearby restaurant/coffee shop virtually nonexistent and traffic dramatically lighter on a Sunday morning. Around noon or so that changes.

In five years, we've been visited by one group wanting to save us. They got the message pretty quickly that their plan was not in the cards. Once in a while we get the question, "what church do you go to," but that is more an ice breaker than anything else.

My pat answer is to chuckle and say, "on my good days, I'm an agnostic." Nobody has yet stormed off in a huff or measured my forehead with calipers. Overall, it's pretty live and let live. But, I also think I have an air about me that tells solicitors, panhandlers and anybody else wanting to chat with some sort of motive that I would find annoying to find another audience.

In that respect, I'd call it the South Lite.

The city needs to ban the amplified megaphones from street corners.
