Affordable Cabins in the Blowing Rock/Linville area
Hello,
I'm looking for a small and basic cabin for late October (will be a Friday and Saturday night) for under $100. The ones listed for $150+ are nice, but not looking to spend that much and don't need the bells and whistles. Just a small cabin with a shower, king bed, and allows a dog and has wireless are both pluses (but not absolute). I have never been to Blowing Rock (at least not that I can remember or as an adult anyways) or Linville Falls. I've been to Boone, Grandfather Mountain, Mt. Mitchell, and Asheville so just looking for something different.
I am guessing that if I come late on a Friday afternoon and leave Sunday around noon Blowing Rock, downtown, and hiking Linville Falls/Caverns should keep us busy for the weekend. Any advice on trails, shops, and places to eat? Coming from the Durham area. Should I just go by my GPS or is there a prettier route? Thanks so much!
Just wanted to add, some kind of lodge or small inn would be nice too. I just want something quiet, woodsy, and a great view. Not motel/hotel and don't feel like camping this time. Even something similar to the KOA cabins would be fine with bathrooms/showers nearby. Don't want to rough it anymore than that though

You need to contact them right away for a cabin in October. It may be difficult to get a cabin this close at your price. I really don't know what they charge here. I believe the colors are going to be early this year since the maples are changing already. There are so many places to hike that you will not get bored.

Thanks so much for the info. I was actually thinking about the inn itself, since the cabins are a little more than what we want to spend. I found some cabins in Linville in our price range but now I am leaning towards staying in town and venture into Linville during the day then retreat back to Blowing Rock for dinner/breakfast and do a bit of shopping before we leave. Thanks again!

I think I have what you are looking for. This place has "camping cabins" - really cute but rustic. There is a bathroom, small living room and loft bedroom. The kitchen is outside - it is really neat It's also in your price range. I hope they aren't booked up yet.

Thanks loves. I did see that and thought it was cute and possibly an option.
Thanks Live! That looks right up my alley. I like the cottage/cabin feel and the fact it looks so clean and simple. Some of these cabins are just too overwhelming with the cabin/country look. I just called and left a message. Lets hope there is still one available! Thanks all!

Get a little farther away from the well-known vacation areas and try small towns like Spruce Pine and Bakersville. They're still close to the better-known areas, but a lot cheaper. Find the chamber of commerce Web sites...they usually list links to vacation rentals and hotels/motels. This would be Mitchell, Yancey or Avery counties.
