I need a good recommendation to something downtown, which we could walk to see a bit of the city for a weekend night coming up. Must be family friendly. Looks like there is a holiday in downtown? Correct? What is the cleanest/nicest one to choose under $200 per night about. Wanna book it tonight.....

Thanks!

i think it was the days in which changed to that. the holiday inn is on tunnel road. wanted to book the haywood but it was totally full. and i called the renaissance and it was like 300 a night and i didn't get the impression it was family friendly from the fellow on the phone.

wish we could stay at a b and b or inn...but the rooms all seem to small to accomodate famlies with 3 or more kiddos. ah well. we have a cabin booked in celo for a few days between our boone stay and asheville stay to balance it out i guess.

Don't stay at the Dowtowner - From what I hear it's pretty gross. I suggest the Rennaissance or the Four Points by Sheraton.

yeah your right about the days inn. Tunnel rd is not necessarily downtown. You can walk it but its a little hike.

Wildwood,
PLEASE take my advice, pay the extra $100 and stay at the Renaissance. You would be SO lucky to get in there, becuz the leaf season is filling up everything fast, and in fact I'm surprised they had a room for you guys. Anyhow, I can tell you that the Renaissance has views, it's perfectly located for a little walk into town, it's got elevators and parking, eating spots inside the hotel, completely safe and plenty nice. Heck, I'd give you the extra $100 and leave it at the desk, but hon, I'm broke until I get my Social Security check in a couple weeks. The only other alternative is the Best Western on Woodfin St, it's across the street caty-corner from the Renaissance, nowhere near as nice, but would do in a pinch.
GG
