It's also more than a little ironic that such prejudice is so rampant in the liberal land of tolerance, acceptance, and diversity. Go figger.

I think they just finished saying it's NOT what state you are from, it's your attitude.

Its really about assimilation. It sounds as though you have some mountain heritage, which will certainly help you overcome the fact that you're moving from Florida. As long as you're talking about "the way it was" back in Florida with any amount of fondness, though, you're a Floridiot.

LOL, most native Floridians are just as laid back and polite as North Carolinians.

FL roads are so easy to navigate, pretty much a boring grid system. NC roads are windy with the mountains and the hills to navigate around, etc. Definitely a difference.

I don't care who is from where as long as everyone's friendly. Personally I have found some of my "born & bred" relatives in Cherokee County to be horribly rude. Most of the Floridians I meet are much friendlier.

Could be, but they're talking specifically about the ones who move to Asheville and environs. (And, I think it's been mentioned that many of the worst ones aren't even originally from FL).
Funny how Asheville seems to get the worst of the "Floridiots"--here in Raleigh, they're all from Joisey or LonGYYYYYYYYYland!

LOL, yeah, I am a FL native but I always hear from people (from NY) that a lot of "bad apples" from NY move to FL. And for some reason the nicer NY'ers stay in NY and the mean ones move to FL. I'm not sure what it is, but FL seems to attract a lot of "bad apples."

The problem is not the true Floridians usually but what we call the halfbacks. They moved to Florida from the north then when living costs went up moved half way back to the Carolinas. If the natives from NC don't like them just think how the real Floridians felt when the moved in on us. You are just experiencing what we went through in the late 60's and 70's.
