Default Help Me Out NC neighbors

My wife is headed up that way from Greenville on Sunday going to Pigeon Forge with the girl friends. How much longer is it going to take them to go via Cherokee versus going I-40. The proposed detour up to Johnson city just looks way out of the way.
Thank you in advance.

I26 is the detour for trucks, and people that don't want to get off the interstate.

Cherokee is not the route to take. If they don't mind narrow 2 lane mountain roads, US 25/70 through Hot Springs is a shorter alternative.

I'd take the Hot Springs route myself.
