Default Lenoir and Hickory Area

I am wondering about the Hickory Area...I 30 years old and may possibly have a job opportunity in the lenoir area, but was not too sure about living there....I mapquest the distance from Lenoir to Charlotte and it is a good distance and too far to commute. I researched hickory, but have no clue about any other places that would be a middle point to live between charlotte and lenoir....can someone please give me some ideas..i want to be close to shopping areas, good places to eat, and still be able to go down to charlotte for social events.

You may consider Hudson which is close to Hickory. Near the river on 321. There is plenty of shopping in Hickory. 321 is a straight shot to Charlotte but still to far to commute in my opinion. Also, on the other side of Lenior, it is straight up to the mountains. Blowing Rock is at the top of the mountain and Boone is about 9 miles further. Boone is a college town. Lots going on in the mountains. Good Luck with your decision. It would be great if you could come down or up and see the area in person.

Hickory is pretty much the only place close to shopping and restaurants between Charlotte & Lenoir. Lincolnton would also be about halfway, but is sort of out of the way, so it'd be longer each way [to Lenoir or Charlotte]. I agree with Catbirds - Hudson is a good area - close to Hickory & Lenoir, and another nearby area to look at would be Granite Falls.
