Has any one else heard about this 5 Day Weekend Petition? do you think Raleigh is ready for it?

I saw a big advertisement in the N&O today for a rally for this movement that was going on this afternoon downtown from about 11:00 - 1:00. I'd love to see this catch on, and if people had an open mind and good work ethic, it could probably work. However, I think it's a huge longshot. Personally, I'd even be happy with a 4-day work week or even a three-on, three-off kind of setup.

I'm impressed how well this has caught on. It's actually nothing more than a publicity play by the convention/visitors' bureau in Asheville. Talk about your viral marketing!

I went to the website take five dot org i think .... and looks like people from all over the state are signing this petition. what would this mean.. it just looks like a waste of time to me. How in the world can a petition, or a law for that matter, dictate how companies run their schedule?

I guess it really doesn't matter what you call the weekend; there are people now who work Saturdays and Sundays on a regular basis and don't get paid anything extra for it. So, if we say Mon - Tues is the workweek and Wed thru Sunday the weekend, we'll just have more people working weekends.
