Default We're here!!!!!!!

Well after a frustrating day watching the bozos manhandle our boxes and furniture and another long day driving from Manassas to Asheville, we are here. The Charter guy got our internet and cable TV up and running a few minutes ago, Lowes dropped of the washer and dryer, and the FedEx guy delivered my "home office" boxes.

So now I have a day or two to catch my breath and rest my back before the movers show up with all our broken dishes, pottery, and knicknacks. I don't think these guys read or spoke enough English to know what "Fragile" and "This side up" meant. If I had another option I'd have told them to unload what was already in the truck and hit the road. They brought a huge van that was already mostly full and then didn't have room for all our stuff. They finally had to go get a smaller truck to carry the rest, which they should have done in the first place. If anyone ever suggests a company called JK Moving and Storage run as fast as you can in the opposite direction.

Anyway, we hope to have everything in place by the weekend and head downtown for the Dickens festival at Biltmore Village and then be in Pack Square for the fireworks Sat. night; anyone else going to be there--Larry

Welcome to town! We moved ourselves. It was a lot of work and we nearly got ripped off by the rental company but at least we didn't have anything broken in the move. I sure don't want to do it again anytime soon. But you're here! You can relax for a short bit and then unload boxes for the next 2 months.

And try to remember what you dreamed in your first night, in germany we say, it will come true (so I hope, there is/was no nightmare about 8000 broken dishes )

JK was one of the companies we considered. Decided to not use them.

Remember the 3 month rule ... any box still unopened after 3 months contains nothing you need.

Wish I force myself to do this, I have unopened boxes after 3 years, but in my defense, I moved around alot over the last few years. Still not done moving, the place we are in is too small and we need to eventually find a bigger place, hopefully that will be the last move!

Welcome to NC

Tony

Default Congratulations!

I hope you'll share with us, over at least the next few months, your impressions of Asheville from a newcomer's eyes.

Wishing you well....
