With the sale of our home in Arizona, I will bring 15 years experience as the Jolly Old Elf to Asheville (or wherever we buy a home in Western NC) in 2010. It will take me a while to build up clientele, I am sure, but I look forward to many more years of bringing joy to families.
The Best part of being Santa? the kids. There is nothing - nothing - like the light in children's eyes, their excitement, their rapt attention as I recite "A Visit from St. Nicholas to them." They lift my spirit.
Putting on the beard and costume. I can feel down or grumpy or whatever, but when the beard and eyebrows go on, I AM Santa Claus. It tranforms me like nothing else. And my Mom, who after she died, told me to be Santa in a vision I had, lives in me again.
The worst: after three weeks of spirit gum on my cheeks to glue the beard on and 90% isopropyl alcohol to remove it, my face is raw and sore.
Cleaning the beard after every gig is also a pain, just not physically.
