Friends of ours are considering buying a lot in Sylvan Heights near Brevard. Does anyone have any information on this development? Thanks.

Don't know a lot about it, but I think there's a website. I have driven through the area, though, and it is gorgeous.

We looked in there while shopping for a lot, it is very pretty but we did not buy there. It is not a "walkable" neighborhood. We have a dog and like to stroll. The tar and chip road was too curvy and steep for us. As I recall there was only a single house there when we looked. There are certainly other developments like this in the area, empty except for one or two houses. If you want to build, be prepared to live there alone for a long time. Some might like that idea, of course, but it wasn't what we wanted.
Caution your friends to check out the water/spetic situation. Needing a very deep well can be expensive and things can get complicated if your lot doesn't perc.

Thanks for the response - they did buy a 4 acre lot there - they are thrilled with the views and proximity to Brevard. They have passed perc test. I think there are a few more homes in there now and they got an excellent deal on the lot - way less than asking price.
