Question Weaverville and the North

Hi, y’all, from Jan and Bill--“the Parkies”--in San Diego. We’ve been reading this forum for months and have been thankful for all of your insights and suggestions. Kudos to you and the moderators as well for maintaining a generally kind and courteous exchange of ideas.

We have explored the Asheville area for 16 years. Now we are retiring and will be moving there as soon as we sell our house (on the market four months). We would like to purchase a house towards the north of Asheville, not more than about 10 minutes from the city, not larger than about 2,200-2,400 sq. ft., with a clubhouse and strong sense of community. We have noticed Pinebrook Farms in Weaverville (model home is in but no roads yet). It seems to meet all of our needs without sacrificing the mountains.

Can anyone share with us pros and cons of Pinebrook Farms and/or Weaverville? Or suggest other developments in the north we may have missed? We will appreciate whatever input you can offer and hope to meet some of you there!

Blessings,

Jan and Bill

Jan and Bill: We are also moving to the Madison County area (Marshall) Weaverville is great - it's worth it just for the Well-Bred Bakery and Stoney Knob Cafe! Reems Creek Golf Course will be my husband's course as it is 25 minutes from our property. We have found the area to have friendly people - educated and interested in current events -

Thanks, y'all, for your nice responses. We suspect that Pinebrook Farms (community) is just too new for any of you to know anything about, but everyone on this forum seems to speak highly of Weaverville. Ed&Betty, we'll be neighbors (just a few miles apart)--we love your property--if one day you wake up to find a couple of folks wading in your creek, that will be us!

Curious why others don't include in their public profiles where they live now... we would indicate San Diego if we knew how... we're brand new at this forum thing... And how do we change our log-in name to Jan & Bill? We don't even know how to write to the moderators to ask them! ha ha

We've been busy for days preparing for our third Open House, which was today. (Four months ago we had a huge realtor caravan as well.) Most people love our house, say lots of positive things about it, and think the price is fair (we've lowered it three times), yet we haven't had a single offer in four months. Our biggest problem is that this great city/bay-view property requires 40 steps up to the second floor where most of the living goes on, and 26 steps up even to the first floor. The garage is down there on the street. That means we carry groceries, trash, and everything else up and down every day of our lives. That doesn't bother us--keeps us fit!--but it sure scares a lot of other folks away (sigh). Oh well, while we wait for that buyer, we'll learn patience, right?... oh, and compassion for all those suffering souls in the Florida market, heh heh...we know how it feels now, Floridians! Anyone else dealing with a nearly paralyzed market?

Jan

Default Correction

I see that we ARE profiled as being in San Diego. I overlooked that (sorry).
