Hello all! Random topic perhaps... But I have recently begun to enjoy trying some "better" beers. I don't know what else to call them haha I show my ignorance on the subject right away!

Anywho, we have a great store here in Boone that sells all sorts of good beer and I was curious if I could get recommendations from people on some of their favorites. I like most of the higher alcohol content beers I have tried as well as those with the standard alcohol content. I really enjoy darker beers. Basically I would love to develop more of a knowledge and taste for beers, but at the higher price you pay for these beers I would hate to start buying a bunch of different beers I would just hate. I know beer is a personal taste thing but I'm sure there are some that most people would say to avoid and some that most people would recommend trying! Thanks everyone!

Yeah man, beer certainly is a personal taste thing. A whole lot of people did a whole heap of "personal tasting" recently at some world wide beer tasting thing.

Ya see any Three floyds beer at that place? Those brews are at the top of the list.

So is Founders Kentucky breakfast stout, Goose Island Bourbon county stout. And near the top of the favorites--Hair of the dog Matt!! You see these, go for it!

A grasshopper walks into a bar, pulls up a stool, ane orders a beer. The bartender pours him a tall, frothy mug and says "You know...we have a drink named after you!" To which the grasshopper replies, "You have a drink named Bob?"

The Peabody employees are really good about helping with recommendations. Tell them what you like and don't like and they'll help you. As above, check their web site for scheduled tastings. That's a great way to try something new without making a big investment. I'm pretty sure you can buy singles at Peabody's.
