Does anyone know much about the round homes I see for sale up in the mountains? are they well built?

They are Deltec homes, born and bred in NC. I have been in a couple but it has been a long time.

Well built, very strong due to the round design, Asheville based company that has been here a long time, and they are everywhere around here, but I guess you have noticed that. There are also a bunch of them in Asheville.

One thing about them is that nothing fits flush agaist the outside walls. You end up with a gap behind everything ( unless you have it custom made to fit the curve ).

I have an octagonal house that is typically referred to as "round." Very cute and easy to expand.

There are several for sale that I know of personally if you are looking to buy (in the Boone area).
