Western North Carolina has the reputation of having some of the very best summer camps in the world.
There are some amazing camps for $1000 - $3000 for the week but not everyone can afford that.
I thought it would be nice to start a thread with summer camps in Western North Carolina where you can have a traditional sleepaway summer camp experience for less than $500 for a full week of camp.
When reading your thread, the very first two I thought about were Camp Tekoa and Lutheridge / Lutherock! Which you already know about I don't know of any other inexpensive camps in the area, but I CAN say that from my experience as a kid, both Tekoa and Lutheridge were awesome! I spent various weeks at each over the course of my childhood and had a great time at them both. I never went to a pricey summer camp, but I can't imagine that a more expensive one is any better. Highly recommend them both!
Hi, justed wanted to jump in here and see, if anyone has an idea for daytime summercamps in the area ?
both of my younger one's would be interested, since we will be new to the area.
They are 8 and 10 (by then) and open for a lot of things. both play soccer, love arts and crafts, cooking, hiking, swimming, biking, camp fires ... pretty much everything fun !
Even we are not religious, they did church camps a couple of times and liked it, too.
we are going to live in south asheville (ballantree), so north of weaverville would be quite a ride on a daily base.

I too went to Camp Tekoa many years ago....
