I went to take my Nephew for Ice cream in Andover today. This was on the marquee. [img]http://i51.tinypic.com/2pzhh20.jpg[img]

Well, it's their business and they're in a conservative part of the country...but I wonder what DQ HQ would have to say about it.

Being a conservative state does that mean that the supermarkets put covers on the Cosmopolitan magazines that they sell near the registers? LOL

You laugh, but yes I have actually seen that type of thing in the Wichita area. I think the people that have lived in Kansas for a long time have become so used to this kind of stuff that they don't even notice. For someone new to the area, it is shocking just how in your face the Christianity can be.

I brought that up because in another forum I think in the South somewhere they had mentioned that the magazines are covered. I had asked you mean the adult magazines are covered. The reply I received was that even the Cosmopolitan was covered up. Around here on the left coast not even the mens magazines are covered up in a liquor store.

Hmmm, come to think of it, I can't recall seeing Cosmo at any checkouts. I do see lots of crazy tabloids with headlines about Brangelina, Katie Holmes leaving Tom, and Laura Bush kicking George W to the curb for drinking and carousing. I guess those are more family friendly than cleavage shots.

Back when the right-wing evangelicals were calling up KAKE threatening a boycott because ABC was showing that satanic "Harry Potter and the Sorcer's Stone" movie was about the time they were also calling Dillions and Wal-Mart and threatening them over having that smutty "Cosmo" magazine on display. About the same time the same group of people were threatening boycotts of major retailers who had sales signs saying "Happy Holidays" and "Seasons Greetings" instead of "Jesus is the Reason for the Season" signs at Christmas. The "moral" years. Fun bunch.

It is hard to believe that in this day and age that stuff like that happens. What about shows like Glee, Two and a Half Men, Brothers and Sisters, Desperate Houswives, The Simpsons, and many many more shows that play on TV? I guess the differance would be that the TV is in the home and the magazines or what have you is in the public. It would be interesting to know how many people are upset about the magazines but don't have any problem with the TV shows.
