I was just reading about the wildfires in Kansas. How terrible. I am scheduled to come to Wichita for a week starting April 3rd. I was reading that a lot of smoke is pouring into Wichita. I was wondering about the current status of this- is it pretty bad- I may postpone my trip if it is. Are the fires pretty close to Wichita and is there threat of them spreading there?

After snowfall this weekend, the fires are nearly all out.

OP - you could just Google "Wichita weather - does it include smoke from recent wildfires?" - and see what you get. Bet you'd find your answer that way. Call the National Weather Service if you can't find your answer online and you'll find what you need in terms of smoke smells and smoke in the air in Wichita.

There was even smoke here in Topeka, it wasn't very noticeable during the day (I didn't notice), but there was a strange haze at night and with the full moon it was really noticeable.

Hey, Mattks, just where were these Kansas wildfires at, anyway? Or where they scattered literally all over Kansas so that it would be too ridiculous to list them all in here?

A few counties in the south central part of the state bordering Oklahoma, SW of Wichita. I haven't been following it all that much.

Me either. It doesn't sound like it's that far from Dodge City, actually, though I've smelled hide nor hair of the fires so far. Yikes.
