wichita neighborhoods (Emporia, Victoria: houses, to live, price)

So I found i house that I really like on realtor.com and I was just wonderin if Emporia is a good road to live on. It didnt say if it was emporia road or street, just emporia in wichita. Any info. would help. Thanks.

Emporia is a north-south street that runs right through downtown Wichita. There is a really cool area in Historic Midtown between Central and 13th Street if you are the "urban pioneer" type. The best addresses would probably be in the 1000-1300 range. There are lots of cool Victorian houses that have been restored and which are very reasonably priced. It is a diverse community there, surrounded on the north and west by a heavily Mexican enclave, downtown to the south, and the traditionally African-American neighborhood to the east. There are quite a few gay homeowners in the Midtown neighborhood who have invested quite a bit of cash into restoring their properties.

If you're not scared of diversity, it is a good bet. Homes in the Historic Midtown neighborhood have kept their values.

Emporia south of Kellogg gets a little seedier, although there are certainly some bargains to be found.
