Default Deals on trees and river rocks for my landscaping?

Does anyone know where I can go to get the best deals in ICT on trees and river rocks for my landscaping? We're on a tight budget and are not very savvy when it comes to landscaping so if anyone can hook us up that would be great!!!

THANK YOU!!

It depends on where you are. Rock can be expensive to transport, unless you're doing it yourself. We used Sturgis Materials in Missouri, and also Stone Solutions in Mission. Johnson County topsoil has rock, but it's pricey. For trees, well...the local nurseries will never be cheap unless you buy smaller trees and are patient as they grow. We've gotten a lot of our small trees (and I mean smal, as in 5-ft or under) at native plant sales in the spring. City Market has a very good one every May, and there are others around if you so some googling. The small trees at these sales will often cost $25 or less and they're easy to plant because they're small.

Here is a link to the Facebook page for the MPF Native Plant Sale at City Market: MPF Spring Plant Sale at Kansas City Market | Facebook
Good luck. As a passionate gardener and landscape designer, I can attest that it isn't easy to do these projects on the cheap, but it doesn't have to cost you your life savings if you shop around.

Oh, I just realized -- the dates for that sale have passed! I missed it! I'm so sorry, I'll see if I can find links to any other sales...

You don't say where you are. We recently did some landscaping and I found a great deal on rocks using Craigslist from a guy in Belton, MO. I've also seen trees although we didn't need any of those.

Lots of people have land they are trying to clean up or clear out and are more than happy to let you come take stuff away for them.

I paid less than 1/3 the cost of getting our beautiful rocks from a retailer and that included delivery! Plus they were naturally sized, not cut so they look better

How fast are you wanting results with the trees? A few years ago, I purchased 50 bare root saplings for very little money. Kansas Forest Service - Browse Available Conservation Items <----- That is the site I purchased from. Not all of them survived to the second year (planted 3 years ago), but I'd say 90% did, plus there are now new shoots to transplant this fall. You can order at any time and they ship to you at the correct time of year for planting in your area.

What kind of rock do you want? How are you using it? What kind and what size of tree?

You can get 10 trees free if you join arborday.org . Arbor day is tree day and the membership is 10 bucks for 6 months. They will mail your 10 trees to your address. The trees are about 12 inches tall. Huge selection too.

We got our river rock from Suburban Lawn and Garden on 135th. They have different price ranges, depending on what you get.
