"When summer hit, her old company she drove mixer truck for called her up and wanted her down here delivering concrete. She makes much better money. So, of course, she come down and hauled concrete all summer."
It may be because she came to Williston, then quit, and now is back again. That may be a mark against her. There are so many ppl looking for jobs, seriously....

North Dakota Opportunity
I am a frustrated college student who would rather go work hard, save up and then put myself and my wife through school with no problem.
I live in Chicago, Illinois. I would like to make the move to North Dakota to take advantage of these amazing opportunities.

I would be interested in knowing the names of some of the companies who might be hiring drivers. I have my CDL Class A, been an OTR driver for 13 years, freight is going soft and I would like to make a change. Weather doesn't scare me since weather has been a norma function of this planet for 4 billion years.

Girls in the Patch
Glad I found this thread. Some things discussed here I had been wondering about.
I had a feeling there was a "good 'ol boy" network out west. Guess that is more likely to happen in an area where things are more "old school".
My son has applied as a swamper on a vac truck and since he knows someone he expects to be hired. His girlfriend is interested in the same type of work and I had warned her that she might not get the job as a woman. She is more than qualified, raised in Alaska, is a Sgt. in the Army National Guard, knows the trucking industry as her father drives ice road in Alaska. Sadly, even if she gets an interview they will probably take one look at her and think there is now way she can handle it because dispite her ability to do the job she is appears VERY femanine. Honestly, she could be a model.
It will be sad to see her be discriminated against but I did warn her. Maybe she will luck out and someone will see her for the hardworking, eager and knowledgable young lady that she is!

I dont care who i work with, male or female, but you gotta be confident that you can lift 100 ibs numerous times everyday. its not the type of job where every 5 seconds you ask for help to do tasks an average guy does on a daily basis here on a rig. gender doesnt mean s*** to me, you just cant be weak or else you put everyones lives in jeopardy. Hell, ive seen a lot of men come and go within a couple days because they couldnt pick up a bag of gel. if you slow down, production slows down, and when production slows down, you have company men on your ass
