The Wal-mart parking lot in Williston is a mess! I was up there a couple weeks ago, and it was 1/4 full of campers and semi's again. Wal-mart even attempted to block the South Enterance to the lot (by Microtel hotel) with those huge cardboard recycle bales on top of pallets...kind of a makeshift road block...and I watched 2 semi's drive over the curb and boulevard on the east side of the road block. They continued on to the north east part of the parking lot to join all the rest of the campers and semi's. The trucks and motor homes just make their own enterances into the parking lot. This was at about 9:30 in the evening. I pretty much just shook my head and laughed. I feel really bad for Wal-mart, but what else can they do? It is unreal!
That new Love's truck stop north of Williston with 400 parking spots will be a welcome site for Williston!

Williston city code allows you to park for up to 48 hours at a time on city streets providing there is no signage restricting it. When I first arrived in town, I spent the first week and a half finding a different spot each night on the east side of town. No one bothered me.

Several weeks ago, in the Herald and article stated that Williston had issued an ordinance against semi's parking on city streets. The fine is 50.00 day.

Roloff, When is that truck stop opening?? That should help a lot. Somebody's getting rich. Anyone open a truck wash there yet?? They make a fortune here in G.F. Wish I had investment money. RE; Walmart, They need to hire their own security guard, parking force and be done w/ it.

About a year ago I heard from someone that the new truck stop was supposed to be a Flying J. Haven't heard anything about it since then. Does anyone here know where exactly it will be located and when construction is supposed to start?

I have not heard anything more about the Flying J either, but there is another one that is going to come here.

Williston, you are going to

There are a couple of private ones north of town with showers and rooms to rent, plus they were going to start serving meals.

Your welcome and if I here anymore on the ones north of town I will let you guys know. We put a bid in to do some work for them, but I think they are having some issues with the serving meals part of their plan.

There is also a truck stop with motel just past Alexander to the south. It's by the Bakken mancamp and looks like it will have more room to park rigs there.

I recall seeing that place on my last drive to Watford City. I wasn't sure if it was dedicated to one of the oil service companies or not. Thanks.
