Default Williston Construction Projects

I thought it would be interesting to see what types of building projects are taking place in Williston with the boom.

I thought it would be interesting to post some of the many many many building projects breaking ground or already in progress in Williston. We hear so much negative about what a terrible town Williston is, and I think we should post some positive things about Williston for a change. Construction is king right now, with over 357million in building projects last year, it is expected to break that record again this year.

One of the most recent project announcements was on Friday, about WIllistons new Community Rec Center. It will be over 205,000 sq ft and includes indoor track&field, basketball, tennis, olympic competion pool, regular pool, waterpark, raquetball courts, batting cages, golf simulator, running tracks, indoor playground, health center with many work out machines, spin room, etc.... it looks like it will be a beautiful facility. They are breaking ground this summer.
Willistonparks

Williston has over 12 new hotels that just recently opened, or are in mid construction. Value Place extended stays is currently building 2 4story 125 each room hotels in the Bakken Industrial Park north of Williston, and are building 2 more in the new Sand Creek Retail center that is breaking ground in April. Along withe these 4 hotels... there is Hampton Inn & Suites, Best Western Atria, Holiday Inn Express&Suites, MainStay suites under construction and the following just recently opened for business this past summer ... Motel 6, HomStay Suites, Candlewood Suites, Microtel Inn & Suites. More hotels are in the planning stages and will be breaking ground this spring and summer.

Value Place hotels WIlliston projects listed below (developers are Nakota development)

http://nakotadevelopment.com/mainprojects1.htm

Granite Peak is the BIG developer. Out of Casper, Wyoming, this development company is reshaping Williston. They are developing the Sand Creek Retail Center which will house various retail stores. Currently, Menard's, a 14plex movie theater, 2 hotels, and I HEARD McDonals...have committed to this retail center. More to be announced by Deumland's property management out of Bismarck (who are responsible for signing on new stores and retail)

Harvest Hills in northwest Williston will house over 5,000 residents when completed. Phase I has pretty much sold out as you can see in the first link below...phase's II and III are supposed to break ground this summer. Check out their links below

University Commons will be a 600 unit housing development just off of 26th and University Avenue (behind Applebee's) this has been in the Williston Herald and they have already begun leveling and devoping the land as of this past fall.

The Timbers, Granite Peak, Sand Creek, are just 3 of many new housing developments that are nearly completed and many homes, condo's and apartments are already occupied. These 3 along with several other smaller developments have added nearly 1,000 housing units to Williston in the past year and a half.

OneOk is building (currently under constructions) 2 new gas plants (StateLine 1 and 2) west of Williston. Basin Power is also building a small gasification plant at this site as well.

2 Huge Logistics loading/unloading facilities are under construction in both Epping (a few miles NE of WIlliston) and in Trenton (a few miles SW of Williston)

Mercy Medical Center has a new 3 story addition under construction. Across West Dakota Parkway to the west of the hospital, Trinity Health is in the middle of construction of their new 3 story clinic. To the south of Trinity across 11th street, another 3 story rehab clinic is in the planning stages.

These are just a few of the major construction projects currently going on in Williston.
If people know of more, I would be very interested in hearing about them. Please post so people who are not familiar with Williston, can get a feel of what is going on in WIlliston.

I know I missed many many other projects (industrial parks are popping up over night in surround wheat fields) Schlumberger, Halliburton, Baker Huges (that is one nice looking office building at their new facility west of Williston) to name a few.
Weatherford is building a new super yard east of Williston by Stoney Creek area. Supposed to be similar in size to Schlumberger, Halliburton, Sanjel, Baker Huges facilities.

Madison Ridge is another huge project that runs along 85 from the 4 mile west of WIlliston, down to the Lewis and Clark bridge over the Missouri River. What was once 100's of acres of prairie, is now residential and service company wharehouses.

Another upcoming project is the Stoney Creek Office Building going up out by the new Weatherford Super Yard east of Williston. Click on OZ architect link and check out the different views of the office complex. Pretty cool looking.

Love's Travel Center is going to be under construction this spring-summer out in the Bakken Industrial Park north of Williston. It was recently updated via the Herald that the 2 restaraunts located at this facility will be a 24hour Wendy's and Chester Chicken.

Roloff...That Rec Center looks great. Funny, my home is between all this new development...Hope my taxes don't go sky high?? I may be duplicating your links as I keep seeing your original post updates.

I started researching because my house is near hospital. I am very excited about all this new growth, sure beats only hearing about new man camps.

Found most of these links on the Williston Herald websites, articles....and web research.
Including a Williams Co. planning web page. This page is for residents to add comments, be a participant in planning and development of future growth and concerns. Really a nice format, very good place to start participating and becoming informed. Lists the home pages of Williston and various cities in the area. Lists meetings and other activities planned. IMO a must see http://www.planwillco.com/
This company is part of the development next to Mercy Hospital, there are links in their menu on right side of their webpage. Some info on the companies various press releases and the building companies also are included in those pages. Hotel, convention, shopping, restaurant, etc Granite Peak Development Casper Wyoming

Jan...yes, please post. I too have repeated myself in past posts, but there are so many threads about Williston, the previous posts get kind of lost in the threads....lol
The more people see what is going on in that town, the better they can understand what the locals are going through (both good and bad).
I have many family and relatives in Williston. Property taxes have actually decreased for my family and relatives. I am guessing with all the new homes and construction and people, the taxes are spread out more across the board. I too am excited for the growth and construction taking place in Williston. I know there are tons of other projects going on and/or in the planning stages. This coming year could be a very intersting year for Williston's retail and restaraunt sector I am told.

Though not a huge project, important just the same. It is a 4 story office/residential that is going up across the street from the Williams County courthouse and Law enforcement center. It will be available housing for City/County workers and then offices on the bottom floor.

Great information Roloff....really good post.
I just checked their website. They are also building a Youth Assessment Center there in Williston. Good to see some community resources going up along w/ the new industry growth. Looks like a very good company...projects all over N.D. Hint to your construction workers

The YAC was already built across from the Rec Center. Waste of money if you ask me.

From the same development company that built Williston's new Holiday Inn & Suites, Candlewood Suites, HomStay Suites and Williston Garden apts...their newest project is this 800 unit apartment complex just to the north of Walmart SuperCenter and west of the new Best Western Atrea hotel under construction. 800 units is a pretty good sized project. I read in the Williston City Commission minutes that they requested zoning for 4 story apartment buildings. I'm guessing there will be quite a few of them. Like the 42nd street intersection isn't busy enough! Yikes! Probably talking about 1,600 to 2,400 more people coming and going at this intersection.

Not a chance...the city is too busy shutting down cab companies to set that up and no one will pay for it.
