Well, I'm thinking the city and county employees, LE and Teachers and anyone else should be getting a pretty hefty raise right about now. Making 42,000 working for the county....needs to be more like 65,000 at least, and I've been told sheriff deputies make something like 42-46...Definitely need more like 65,000 to start. Cost of living alone warrants that.

Corrections deputies start around 36k a year at the SO and Patrol deputies start at around 40k. Unlike the Williston PD, they don't get a housing allowance and currently most of the patrol division are living in county owned trailers/apartments with 1-2 roommates. I would say about 40% are working a second job to make ends meet and another 20% are doing it just for some extra spending money. One guy just had to quit after a year on because he still couldn't bring his wife and baby up to live with him because he couldn't afford a place without roommates.

This is an issue that needs to be taken to the state. All these concerns for those coming for jobs should be tabled until the communities safety and security is guaranteed. imo
I've heard there is housing going in for city employees. Hopefully that's true and for county employees too.
