Still have a couple of questions on the foreign national workers...And whoever asked, McDonalds and the pizza places in Williston pay $10/hr, don't believe the hype of $20+, just not true............
Anyway back to these foreign nationals, does the employer pay for food, transportation to/from job, and housing? Does this come out of the $9-$10 hr wage???????????
And just WHERE in Williston are they putting these people???????????? There is NO housing there.
And now that the oil patch has slowed down a lot in hiring, meaning do not go there if you do not have oil experience expecting a 80/100,000 job, those days are gone, with people still coming into town looking for work, just how long
are the H-2 Visas supposed to go on?????
Sounds like a good question for a ND Senator or someone at the state dept.

The employer furnishes a place to stay and transportation. Food has to be paid for by the worker. No, the place to stay and transportation is not taken out of their pay. The housing is furnished by preexisting homes the restaurant owner has had for years. They put 4 or 5 workers in each home.
At least that is how it is done here and from what I understand, half the McDonalds in the country have done that. There is such a shortage of basic pay help that they can't hire anybody. Too many kids of our time, have a big sense of entitlement and want the $20 an hour job the day they graduate highschool. McDonalds wants to keep their doors open and the certainly have the customer base, they just needed workers. So this plan was devised by corporate and instituted to by all the McDonalds that needed help.

Not all restaurant owners in Williston have been there a long time, I could name several that are new to the area.
One Problem:
Audit: ND university awarded unearned degrees - US News and World Report
And re-posting the foreign student visa is different from the H-2B Visa
F. Temporary Workers in Short Supply (H-2B Visas):
This visa category is available to an employer that has a need for services or labor that is either a one-time occurrence, a seasonal need, a peak load need or an intermittent need. The employer must show not only that foreign national workers will be needed for a temporary period of time, but that there will be no need to replace foreign national workers after their visas expire because of the temporary nature of the position itself. The employer must advertise the position in accordance with DOL regulations and offer the position at the “prevailing wage” to obtain a temporary labor certification from the DOL proving unavailability of U.S. labor. Upon approval of the temporary labor certification, the employer files an H-2B visa petition with the USCIS.
H-2B visas are limited to the duration of the employer’s need for services, initially up to one year with two one-year extensions possible, but difficult, to obtain.
Interesting break down on options for foreign nationals to work in the US - summer work program for students is titled different than the H-2B.
