Exclamation coming from CA to LaCrose,WI to surprise my girlfreind, Can someone help me...

Ok, im going to move out to Wisconsin leaving everything behind here in California, she doesnt have a clue that im going to do this. All i know is shes going to be in a city called LaCrose, i didnt get a chance to propose to her... ...and well, dammit i love her and shes everything to me...

Now the closest thing i found in the web is the city hall and i went on mapquest to get directions.

heres a picture of the map/route im going to take.

Now, i know theres a river somewhere between the state, is this map/route accurate???

PLEASE Wisconsin LOCALS HELP ME!!!

Default Not detailed enough, and wrong spelling

The map you referenced will, yes, get you from CA to WI, but it's not detailed enough to comment on the route.

You'd find a lot more information if you'd spell the city's name correctly. It's LaCrosse (or La Crosse), not LaCrose, and lies on the border with MN, thus also the Mississippi River.

I grew up 30 minutes from La Crosse, WI. It's a really nice place. And yes, it's on the Mississippi River. Your map looks right as far as getting there. Are you driving? I've been to California, but I wasn't there long enough to know if you will experience "culture shock" or not. People seemed friendly to me in CA. The closest I got to LA was Anaheim and Disneyland. People are friendly in La Crosse and there is a lot to do. Are you going to getting a job in the area? Depending on what you do for a living, there are quite a few jobs in La Crosse right now. I don't know if you drink or not, but La Crosse has A LOT of bars in the downtown area. There are a lot of other things to do, though.

We live in Sparta Wisconsin and it is about 25 minutes from Lacrosse. The river you are referring to is the Mississippi river. I am originally from Colorado and my hubby from southern california. I would really think about moving out here...the winters suck like you would not believe to the point where you do not even want to leave your house. The summers are very hot and humid so you feel like you cannot breath and if you were not born and raised here people look at you weird. It is very different out here than California. Just my opinion but we are going to be moving back to the West coast in the next year or so. Like I said just my opinion but why don't you see if she will move back towards you?

The route you are taking will definately get you there.........it appears. That particular route will bring you through many large cities and you may know, it you hit those cities at the wrong time of day your trip will be much longer.
My suggestion would be to purchase tripmaker, or maybe there is a simular free one you can find. You can select to go around many of the larger cities. Tripmaker will also give you very detailed directions.

Are you planning on bringing a uhaul?? If so, going through Denver may not be the best route.

I lived about 30 from LaCrosse for about 10 years. It is a very nice area. But coming from California, don't forget to go shopping for your winter clothes. Gets mighty cold
