Whats a Class D license? I know what A, B and C are, and mine is Class A.

In Wisconsin, Class D is the standard car/light-truck license.

I have a slightly related question. Since I have moved here, I have noticed a lot of SUV's have truck license plates. What is the benefit of a truck plate vs a normal one and what does it take to qualify as a truck? I tried looking at the department of transportation site with no luck...

Truck plates go by weight class, so can haul more with them. Cost more and some may have traded off a truck and just transfer plates over to them. I have a suburban with auto plates as cheaper.
