Default Info on Whitewater

Does anyone have any information on what Whitewater is like? I'd appreciate anything you have to offer! We have 2 kids and I am going to back to college.

Very small town, low crime, small state college. Don't know how the elementary and secondary schools are, though.

Not a bad area in which to grow up. Not nearly as much to do to get into trouble.

It's about an hour from Madison, an hour from Milwaukee, and 1.5 hours from Chicago.

Wouldnt call a school of 10,000+ small. It's one of the more prolific schools in the state. Obviously not the the same calibur of UWMad or UWM. That's about the only thing this little cowpie has going for it though. It's a very tiny town despite the 13,000 population you see on the sign. It's obvious the town thrives off the college. Otherwise, it would be a blink and miss it hick town.

With state universities routinely enrolling 40,000+ students, I'd call 10,000 small. The difference in atmosphere, environment, amenities, etc., isn't just a matter of degrees at that point; it's pretty substantial.

I have some relatives who live there. My cousins went to school there, one all the way through college. As in most college towns, the schools are good. I visited there MANY times, haven't been back in a while. I remember it as a cute little place. My aunt did say there were people there who didn't want to be your friend if you didn't have a PhD. My family was not involved with the University.
