How about Northern Wisconsin, I am from the Ashland area and I believe that due to lake Superior the natyral beauty is what makes living up here impressive.http://www.unc.edu/~rowlett/lighthouse/photos/USA/AshlandWI.jpg (broken link)

I think that Northern Wisconsin is beautiful because people have truly left it alone. I love living here!!

It's been a little quiet in this thread. I went to Bluegill bay in Rib Mt. yesterday afternoon and got a couple lightning shots from a storm that went through.

Now, it was completely dark out except for a street light. Look how bright this picture is

Joe I love the lightning shots. Those always amaze me how people can photograph them at just the right moment.

Thanks Josh. I'd like to say "yeah, it's a *****", but actually it's quite simple. If you have a camera that you can put in manual mode and can set the focus, shutter speed, and aperature manually, you can do it.

In manual mode, set the focus to infinity (the sideways 8). Set your shutter speed to Bulb if you have it and I set my aperature between 6 and 8.

With the shutter speed at bulb, I just press and hold down the shutter button. As long as I hold it down, the shutter will remain open. I leave it open for 10-15 seconds at a time. If lightning flashes during that time, I close the shutter right after the lightning. Voila'

if not, then I do it again and repeat until I get some good shots.

Pretty simple. Great....now my secret's out.
