I've never picked mushrooms, so I wouldn't know one. I sure should make an effort to learn.
I love mushrooms!

I never have picked them either. Too scared. But, with some reading on morels, they seem to be common throughout the state, and safe to go after. There is nothing else that looks like them.
There is one called the false morel, but it not really just like the morel. Just to be safe, one should read up before heading out. They're out there. And I am going out, they should be appearing now in the southern part of state, maybe futher north too.

I've seen a show on the travel channel about pickiing mushrooms and I believe they were in northern Wisconsin and the UP. It was a great show. I love mushrooms but would not have a clue, which ones to pick!
Of course, you can go to Crystal Falls for the Humungus Fungus Festival! There is a huge (acres big) mushroom that has gotten quite famous. However, they do say it is mostly underground. HUMONGUS FUNGUS

That's better Hntr. Its to bad that we lose so many species of trees to stupid diseases and other natural occurences.

Yes, here in my area we have to watch for oak wilt too. Oak wilt is another fungal desease that came for overseas, Russia, if I remember correctly. I am very careful and do not prune any of my oaks (any of my trees actually) until very late in the winter when they are dormant.
