K, here are a couple of my moon shots. The 1st was wasn't edited at all. It's straight from the camera. The second one was heavily cropped. I was in a hurry taking these pics so they are hand held and without a tripod.

Nice shot. Mine out of the camera comes out at about 2 percent of the picture, so I don't get a lot of detail even with heavy cropping.

Yeah I tried once before with my 18-55mm lens and it just doesn't work. This was taken with my 70-300 mm lens at 300mm. My settings were F8, ISO 200, Shutter 1/250. As I said I was in a hurry and didn't really want to play with the settings too much because it was cold outside.

That's what I've been looking at the Canon EF 70-300mm f/4-5.6 lens. It's does a great job for you! Have you ever used a 2x converter? I had one with my regular SLR, wish I had one for my digital.

And you're right about the cold, I was running outside taking a shot or two then coming back inside for a few minutes to warm up.

My lens is the Sigma 70-300. I haven't used a teleconverter yet. I think it was because of some compatability issue. I shoot with a Nikon D40, which doesn't have a motor. So I am limited to only buy lenses that have built in motors. I'm looking at getting another camera though. The Nikon D90.
