Beloit Pride
What can we as a community do to continue the tradition we have in our beautiful town? What are some of your favorite things about Beloit? Favorite things to do?

Riverside Park, Big Hills Park, Old Mill Park, Leason's Park ....all truly lovely.
Beloit College...consistently listed as one of the best small private colleges
The diversity of the people. What some people may see as a drawback, I see as a real positive. My children grew up in Beloit and in Beloit schools system and have all gone on to excellent colleges and great success in life and I suspect the fact that they learned to appreciate and respect a wide diversity of cultures and ethnic groups had a lot to do with their success. The business people, educators, religious community members, etc. that always step up and join together to accomplish important things in the community. The really good teachers. While it often goes unnoticed, Beloit has some of the best teachers you will find anywhere. The Gateway area is another example of the tremendous changes and growth taking place in Beloit. Unfortunately, you don't see these things featured on tv news very often. If there is something negative, they will sure talk about it but all the really good things go unmentioned.

Our symphony, the Beloit Janesville Symphony, is one of the jewels of southren Wisconsin! Of course, I'm partial, since I play in it, but we have some wonderful programs coming up this season! If you are interested in good classical music, come and see us! Our web page isn't working to give you the programs yet, but please check back. We do an outdoor concert free on July 4. In the spring we'll be doing The Mikado. Coming up is The Rite of Spring ballet - a unique opportunity to see this work performed.
Fridays downtown are great; at noon there is live music. At the Harry Moore pavilion by the river there is live music Friday nights during the summer. There is always a good crowd there and a variety of musical acts.
There is a lot of art and music here in Beloit, so come on in and don't pass us by on the interstate!

You are all correct in your candid assessment of Beloit. One must simply take a walk in any park on a summer day or by Harry's place on a summers evening to experience a small taste of that which is essential to a deeper understanding and appreciation of our small town with deep roots. ajf

I would suggest contacting Nancy Forbeck at the Beloit Chamber of Commerce. I bet she could "hook you up" with the right people and give you the needed information really quickly.

There is a Beloit in Kansas.....also another one somewhere I think. But Beloit Wisconsin is right on the state line seperating Wisconsin from Illinois.
