Default Moving to Caledonia from Ohio

We are moving from Ohio and have made an offer on a house in Caledonia. We absolutely love the house and neighborhood, but have not heard any good things about the school district there (Racine Unified?) We have a 13 yr. old son who loves to play sports. Any suggestions or comments on other schools or open-enrollment programs?

Default Welcome to Caledonia!

I have a 7 yr old daughter and I refuse to send her to Racine Unified. I send her to a catholic school in Oak Creek. We missed open enrollment or I would have let her attend Oak Creek public schools. For high school, I'd definitely try open enrollment at Oak Creek or South Milwaukee. Of course you'd have to drop off and pick up.

I haven't looked into private high schools (daughter's too young yet). Other than the schools, we love living in Caledonia. We are looking to move out of state but that's because of my allergies. It's a great area.

Default Re: Racine

I work with the school system somewhat via an exchange program; my son is not old enough for school yet however I would never send my child to Racine Unified. We are actually moving to Caledonina ourselves in about 3 months...where will you be? We should keep in touch! But I am definitely browsing private schools myself. Some great ones in Kenosha and the Racine Lutheran is fabulous I have heard as is Prairie School (although $$$)
