Now I have no idea where i'll end up going to get my prerequisites out the way.....probably Jersey or Connecticut though since i'm not too comfy on Milwaukee & Madison seems rather insane atm.....but i definitely want to end up in Anchorage after a few years! =)

Again, thanks for all the comments..... <3
This sucks cuz I didn't know about all this, and I need to go to bed!! Wisconsin is mostly white because... who the Hell wants to live there?!! It's not exactly the place where a lot of people want to move. People live here because they always have, but at the same time, these people aren't living in the stone ages. People have been progressive here and up-to-date with the times since I used the profile.

Why Alaska?! No!

People in Wisconsin could care less what you are doing about anything. Will you stick out? ...Maybe? ... Will anyone care? No!!! No one cares, it's just that Wisconsin is harsh environment. Last time I was in Green Bay, most of the people were Pacific Islanders.

Probably because someone's brother in law's friend's uncle knows a guy who drove through Price County one time and had a bad experience, thereby magically equating said bad experience to the overall social environment, which also magically improves when stepping across the county line.

Believe it or not, the people of Price County seem more sane to me than the people I live around now...

I'm a black male. I'm far from a fan of Green Bay. It's an awful place for many reasons, but racism is not one of them. I personally have not experienced significant racism or hostility because of my race. I can't speak for Milwaukee though I know that it is extremely segregated.

What would you say your experiences of Green Bay have been?

I moved with my girlfriend to "Lake Country" ie whitebread Waukesha Co this past fall. To put things into perspective I'm White and she's biracial (except when in Wisconsin she's labeled black). She's lived her entire life on the west coast so it has been an adjustment. I'm not the one living her life, but I will give you some observations I've made and things she has told me about Wisconsin.

When we first moved here she was HORRIFIED by the segregation in the work place. Many of her white coworkers seemed to be hesitant to talk to her at first (some just assumed black = don't bother) and the black coworkers were very hostile towards non-blacks. She told one of her black coworkers about where we were living and she jokingly responded, "What's a ni--a doin' up in Delafield?" Apparently it's not only whites who think blacks should only live in Milwaukee.

I will state this however. We have yet to experience any blatant racism aimed at us. No one has ever yelled the N word at her or called me a Ni--er lover. Now, it has made us laugh that while at the grocery store I'll give her a kiss on the cheek and some old lady might stare at us for awhile, but that's her deal. There was one incident unfortunately where after filling up her car around 9PM at the gas station a Delafield police officer was staring at her for some reason. It was making her incredibly nervous. Anyway, people were coming and going but as soon as she started her car so did he. He proceeded to follow her home for several miles until she arrived in our driveway. I called the Delafield police department and explained how offended I was at what has just transpired and they apologized profusely. I was told that she may have been mistaken however when I google searched several police cars in the area she pointed out the Delafield police car as the one that had followed her.

The white community in Wisconsin is generally fine. There are racists, but mostly the kinds who blog about how black people are lazy or whatever. There aren't lynchings going on. The reason for white hostility in my opinion is that they really don't know any black people. The black community and white community are two completely different worlds when it comes to the heart of the city and the heart of the suburbs. Luckily integration is happening all over parts of Brookfield, Mequon, Wauwatosa, etc. Black families are all over the suburbs (Still small percentages tho).

As a black female you really need to ask yourself as well how you feel about the black community. This isn't Atlanta and there isn't a large black middle-class. There are some ghetto ass black people that live in the Milwaukee Metro and if you are used to a certain demographic you are going to feel completely out of place. Talking proper English may get you made fun of. Obviously a lot of this is different around UWM and the nearby communities that were listed and Madison as well as many of the residents are more progressive. Personally I would stick with those areas as you will come across the least amount of issues.

Wish I could help you further, but my girlfriend again is the one who is experiencing living in Wisconsin as a black female. She has told me time and time again that she truly is happy living here, but would never consider raising our kids here.

~Edit:
Just realized that you are more than likely 18 since you said you are thinking of moving here for school. Is that correct? All of the universities here (Madison/UWM/Whitewater/EauClaire/etc) are very progressive and you see nothing BUT interracial couples now a days on campuses. Will you have a car when you are on campus? What do you want near the university? If you want the "city feel" I'd recommend Madison or UWM handsdown as they are the most progressive and have the most going on within their own campus and nearby. As a student I don't know why you would want to head out to the farmland so some of this won't even relate to you.
