I, like a lot of people who travel for work, dine out frequently. So frequently, we qualify as restaurant critics. Everyone appreciates a good meal, great service and consistent dining experiences.
Let's use this thread to share with others our dining experiences.
Please reply with your experience and objective opinion. Start amother thread if you disagree with someone, and we'll keep this one on topic.

Ok, I'll start.

Kudos to "Fork in the Road" in Muwanago. I was skeptical of the plain tan house on main street, but once inside I discovered what the locals already know too well. The food was a solid 4 star and the dining experience overall was 4 star (out of 5). The owner personally escorted my wife to our table, which showed class and genuine care.

Dined there twice....excellent both times. Always packed.

The Buckhorn Supper Club on Lake Koshkonong, Newville side of the lake. One of the good old Wisconsin Supper Clubs that are disappearing from all over the state. First, it's on the lake, then, the bar is HUGE and the drinks are great. Expect to wait for a table, but with that bar, no problem. And the food?? To die for...
My only suggestion would be they should do a little more outside to enhance the fantastic lakefront property they have.

Nancy's Northside Restaurant in Rice Lake. Affordable, quality service, friendly people. (Sound like a commercial.) Amazingly friendly. A lot of regulars in there. A fish fry every Friday night. Very mom & pop, very old school. They don't take credit or debit, just checks and cash. Closed on Sundays. I don't suspect that ever changing unless the owner gets a lobotomy or sells to someone else. Best pizza burgers around. Their fries are cut from real potatoes.

We have been to Minocqua WI to the Plantation Supper Club three times and it has been excellent each time. The food was about the price of chain places but 1st rate.

The place also has to be the cleanest in the state. My sister in law was with us last fall and is a clean freak; she even pointed out that there was not a speck of dust on the light fixtures.

The Dayton Street Grille in the Madison Concourse Hotel is absolutely fabulous. You wouldnt expect such a stellar menu and setup from a hotel, but these guys have got it down. Each entire comes with a choice of 3 dipping sauces (sweet, savory, spicy). I had the scallops, and they were second to none. With a lot of other places doing the same thing, competition is serious, and these guys go the extra mile. The staff was very detail oriented and thorough about everything I asked about, they make you feel pretty special, not a bad joint to take the wife or special lady to. Very impressed with my experience and will be back for more. Now for pizza....Maria's in Oregon is great as well. They have your traditonal italian selections, its all real good but the pizza stands out especially. Homemade dough, cooked to absolutely perfection, and the Italian sausage they use the best I've ever had. The prices are very reasonable, but they get you on the sodas ($1.95) They have a small wine and beer selection, just enough IMO, very small town feeling there which I like a lot. I've been going there for years, if I want good pizza, its the only place I'll go, even if its a half hour drive away. One other place I'd like to mention is the Dorf Haus in Roxbury. Authentic German cuisine and great prices. They dont slack on the portions and the atmosphere is great, the staff is very nice and accurate, very cool place inside and out. They offer two soups of the day and salad bar daily along with a full menu. They also have smorgasbord every Monday. Friday nights they have a fish fry and for a few weeks out of the year, they serve turtle, which I found unusually good.

Bonnie's Lakeside in Three Lakes is my fave supper club. I also had a very good dining experience in a hole-in-the-wall supper club just north of Chilton -- I think it might have been Countryside Bar and Grill outside of Manasha? Maybe not... Smoky's Club in Madison nearly lives up to its legendary supper club status. Seven Seas in Hartland is nice too. It's pricier and more upscale than your average lakeside joint but the food is really good.

My absolute fave in Eau Claire -- Manny's Mexican restaurant. Fabulous scallops, freshly prepared food from scratch, soup -- excellent. The interior decor is just right for great atmosphere. Wish the exterior had better landscaping (sparse), but the food is excellent.

It's a little pricey ($15-$20 for entrees) , but delicious. I've also heard great things about the margaritas.

"The Buccaneer" - Rozellville (bout 10 minutes north of Marshfield). Great atmosphere, great service, amazing fish fry.

Speaking of Marshfield, they had a heck of a menu at the Central Waters brewpub, which I believe has since disassociated itself from the Central Waters brewery and is now called Blue Heron.
