We are considering relocating to either Oshkosh or Appleton. What part of Appleton is best to live with a family? Good schools? Price isn't really an issue, so the "higher" class neighborhoods would be good. North, South? Please help

I've lived here in Appleton since March 31, 2008 and as of this writing, I can't think of any areas here that I wouldn't recommend living in, except for the ugly sprawl of Grand Chute to the city's west. Coming from the Chicago area, my view may be shaped differently from life-long Wisconsinites but from my view, Appleton does not have any truly bad areas, or at least those that I don't feel safe in.

Some stretches of Badger Avenue southeast of College look a little tired but nevertheless pose no safety problems. You can't really go wrong here.

I would recommend perhaps looking in the areas adjacent to Lawrence University and those inside Richmond, College, the Fox River, and Wisconsin Ave. This general area IMO is the most beautiful but you can't really go wrong with this place.

I would avoid the area around Richmond Terrace, it's becomming somewhat 'ghetto' around there. Also along North Richmond st, north to Wisconsin Ave. Divison St between the downtown and Wisconsin ave is questionable as well. The apartment complexes on Wilson Ave on the southside is a big no-no as well. Most other areas are allright even though some areas are becomming 'iffy'.
