What does Waterford have to offer? What is it like? I know it's a small town. What is there to do there? How far from Milwaukee and Chicago, and other places for shopping, entertainment, recreational activities, etc.? What's the crime rate like? Cost of living? Where are good places to live? Thanks! (Currently living in Iowa and will possibly be relocating back to Wisconsin for a job.)

I can't speak as a Waterford resident, but I have several family member and close friends that live there and I really like it.

From my impressions it's a small town that doesn't really have much going on, but the area is VERY pretty. Most of my family that lives there initially owned second homes on the lakes in the area and moved there permanently because they liked be out of the city but still had reasonable commutes to their jobs in Milwaukee.

The crime rate in Waterford, like much of suburban WI is nearly non-existant. Downtown Milwaukee is about 45 minutes away, Chicago is about 2 hours, but if you are looking for basic mall shopping and big-box stores you won't need to drive all the way to either city - there are many closer options.

Recreation should be easy if you like outdoor-sy stuff. There are tons of lakes in the area, the Kettle Moraine state forest is nearby for great hiking & cross country skiing, there is downhill skiing and snowboarding in East Troy, and you're not too far from Lake Michigan.

Good luck with your search!

Default Thanks for that information

Thanks for the info. I have a job interview coming up, and am trying to decide if this would be a good move. Do you know if there are any dog trainers in Waterford? I am a professional dog trainer and would be doing that part time in addition to my regular job that I will be interviewing for.
