It's a big state...you should figure out how far you are willing to drive from RFD and then research communities that interest you within that radius. There are many cabins or lake homes in Lake Geneva...very scenic. Also in SW Wisconsin in the driftless area is nice...

If you are will to travel furthur, the area near the Dells and beyond has more cabins at cheaper prices...

So the consensus seems to be....not in rockford.
South beloit is IL and nothing there either. Have you tried janesville? lol!
Most of that area is flat, open farmland with the rock river going through it.

OK, Rockford Illinois is good enough for every single Wisconsin Democrat legislators to flee to in order to avoid having to vote "no/present" on a bill, so come on now, it can't be all that bad!

Clock Tower Inn in rockford seems to be the 'correct' thing to go to.
Just tip the un-unionized staff well as they work very hard for change.....

I didn't mean I wished to stay in rockford. I hate long rides and live in the general vicinity of rck.

Spoken like a person who has never ventured off the interstate!

Jvl is on the southern edge of the ice age trail. Lots of glacial drumlins, lakes, woods, etc. I know many fibs who bought weekend homes here and stayed.
