Madison, State Street in general. The lakes by Minocqua, also Castle Rock Lake. Wisconsin has a very diverse landscape, something I adore.

Moving to Virginia, I can definitely say I miss the traffic (or lack of), and the plentiful parking.

We lived on the Fox River. We had a small sandy beach next door, and 2 properties down to the other side of our house was a nice boat dock, and a very tall tree with a long rope in it that would reach quite far over, pretty much to the middle. We'd swing out to about the middle and drop into the river. We had so much fun. I, being the oldest of 7 children, would climb up to were the rope was tied and would dive down to the bottom of the river and grab a couple hands of mud and would come up and throw it around. Living on the river was the live I will always miss. I miss my friends. We would hit the field next door to my friends house to play baseball. Walk to Silver lake were there was a sandbar out in the middle of the lake we would float out to the sandbar, walk around, and from a distance you would look like you were walking on water. In the summer of 1964, we had to move from Salem, Wisconsin (Kenosha County) to sunny California because of my mother's health. Gosh I miss those days gone by. Never ever been back to see the old place. While I was in the Marine Corps, My family went back to see the old house. They told me the people who bought the house had added on an attached garage with an additional room above. Now when I used Google map, I can't even find my old neighborhood. Maybe the big Oak tree was hiding the small beach area. Who knows. I don't miss the winter mornings when we had to walk about a mile+ just to get to the school bus stop, the thin ice crust hurt my shins as my foot would break through with each step I took alongside the slippery road. (Up hill). I moved later from California to Hillsboro,Oregon, then to Boise, Idaho, and now live in Winston, Oregon.

Thumbs up Raw milk

I miss the 5 gallon cans of raw milk left on the front door step. Mom would skim off the soft frozen cream from the top and add vanilla and chocolate and made fresh homemade ice cream. Having seven of us kids, we'd take turns shaking a one gallon jar filled with raw sweet cream into homemade butter. Those were the days.
