Hello, we are in the process of considering areas for relocation. We are open to looking almost anywhere, but have mainly concentrated on the Midwest or possibly the southeast including the likes of Wisconsin, Illinois, Indiana, Missouri, and North Carolina.

Appleton, WI is high on our list because you have your choice of beautiful old homes with loads of character for under $140. Appleton also has a nice downtown and a good community feel.

I have been having a hard time finding other areas with lots of older homes at this price. Any ideas where I should look?

Thanks!

One place that stood out to me was St Paul, MN. Another place you could try is St. Louis, MO.

Ashville, NC seems nice, with a vibrant downtown (I haven't been, but a friend has lived there and we have looked into for a relocation). Also, we recently looked into the Johnson City, TN area, just north of Ashville. There were so many properties we could afford, it was crazy.

My friend loves LaCrosse and Winona, MN. She is an old-charm, vibrant downtown and arts and culture and farmers market kind of gal, so I would at least look toward there.
