Default Advice For an Intern in Green Bay

Hey Everyone,

Just thought I would ask if anyone had any advice of things to do for a young professional (early 20s) in the Green Bay area. I will be interning in the area for most of the summer and I am just trying to see whats around. I love to immerse myself in a new area and was seeing what I would have to do to truly experience Wis.

If it helps, I'm big into triathlons/running, being outdoors on trails/beaches, enjoying a signature beverage or two (responsibly of course) and hanging out with other students/professionals.

Appreciate any input!

I'm looking for the same thing. I'll be interning this summer as well, and I can't find too much information on things to do for people my age! If you find anything, let me know.

For socializing on a warm summer evening Fox Harbour Pub downtown has a nice patio on the river.
For outdoors there is the fox river trail for jogging. Bay Beach/Wild Life Sanctuary for walking trails.
Bay Shore Park has a great view of the bay, a beach, cliffs,etc....

To really exp. the area hit Packers training camp in July then go to Lambeau and get dinner and drinks at Curleys Pub. Order the cheese curds for an appetizer then the johnsonvile brats for the meal.

I'm 27 and have lived here most of my life, except for college, but I am moving to Denver this summer to experience more of a big city. During the day in the spring/summer there are a lot of walking and biking trails or places to hike around. There is a nice trail in Allouez and one right on the river downtown. For hiking, check out Maribel Caves. It's about 20 minutes South of Green Bay and is a great place to check out local wildlife, is right on a river, and every second (I think) Sunday you can take a cave tour for free. There are also lots of nice little parks and areas north of Green Bay. There are several Disc Golf courses if you're into that. It's a great way to get outside, exercise, and meet new people. There is a Green Bay area disc golf league and it has a facebook page if you want to check that out. If you want to check out a beach there really isn't one in Green Bay but if you drive about 30 minutes south to Manitowoc and Two Rivers they have beaches you can actually swim in depending on pollution levels . For swimming you can also go to Ashwobomay, which is a man made lake popular in the summer. Door County and Sturgeon Bay also have nice beaches and that's about 45-1 hour drive North.

At night there's not a whole lot to do except go to bars, hang with friends, or see a movie. Bars are huge around here! There's the east side downtown area with a lot of bars in a row near the river. It's more of a young college/professional scene. The West side around Lambeau also has some sports bars and are popular with the older professional crowd but also gets a younger crowd too. If you like live music Frets and Friends (used to be called IQ's) usually has bands (on University Ave), so does Ned Kelly's (east downtown), the Crunchy Frog (east downtown), and sometimes the Bar East.

If you have any more questions feel free to ask! I hope you enjoy it- if you're into the outdoors and like a relaxed atmosphere it's a great place to live!
