By LA do you mean "Louisiana" or "Los Angeles?" Either way, you may wish to post in the forum of your origen first. Beaver Dam is not a very large place, even by WI standards.

When I moved from Southern California to Wisconsin I used ABF trucking company. They drop off an empty semi trailer at your house. You load it with your stuff and call them when it is ready to be picked up. ABF shows up and builds a wall inside the trailer to separate your stuff from other freight they load on the trailer. When you get to your destination you call them and they deliver the trailer at your new address. You disassemble the plywood wall and unload your stuff. They return and pick up the trailer.

My grandparents retired from Milwaukee to Fox Lake. They used to go to Beaver Dam for their shopping needs.
