We will be traveling back to Hartford this weekend, on a house hunting trip. We hope to find a nice rental. Prices seem to be on the high side compared to what we are used too. 1000 to 1300 a month on average.

one thing about that area - it may not matter to you but suburban milwaukee is very far right wing politically, and a lot of it is because of racial tension that has driven some of the closed minded people further and further from milwaukee proper way out into the exurbs.

it is the phenomenon known as white flight. milwaukee is well known to be one of the most segregated areas in the country and the people in hartland are largely there to "get away". most likely the lack of diversity will be scary and ignorance and bigotry will be very pronounced as it is in most milwaukee exurbs and some suburbs.

I personally wouldn't want to live in Hartford. It's a pretty bland town, and, while I may be overly cynical in saying this, it tends to attract those who want or need to be within Milwaukee's orbit, but who really, really don't like minorities, to the point where a place like West Allis or 'Tosa is "too close for comfort." It's not my kind of place.

I asked about Hartford for one reason, and that was my new job is there. It's not because I want to be away from minorities. We found a house in another town anyway out in the country which suits us better anyhow. I like to hunt and fish and I can do that now on the property that I live on.

Try renting in Hustisford- about 5 miles to the west. Small town, but has some decent rentals.
