Believe it or not, I rented there for a year. Lots of crime and race issues. Didn't bother me too much, as I was putting myself thru college.

I'm sorry you had such a bad experience in Mukwonago. I fell in love with Mukwonago and bought a home here in 2007. I'm in "upper management" in Milwaukee, and find Mukwonago to be a great place to live and raise my kids.

Sure, I've seen a speed trap now and then however I would hardly say that it resembles a "police state". Most locals know the two or three spots where they choose to sit (Hint: Park & Ride on Holz Parkway, the entrances to Two Rivers off of ES, and at Waukesha State Bank).

My guess was that your experience was limited to right around the Rochester St. area near the square. There is much more to Mukwonago than that area, and even that isn't bad. Crime? We laugh when we read the police blotter in the Chief. 90% is people shoplifting from Wal-Mart!

To answer the question about the flea market - it's Maxwell Days, and it's held at Field Park. Here's the schedule: July 21-22; August 18-19; September 8-9.

Also, don't forget about the brand new YMCA opening soon!
