If you're looking to move to Sheboygan, make sure you pick the right spot. I lived there for 15 years, and during that time, I saw it change from an almost perfect spot for families to a deterring city. Crime has sky-rocketed over the past five years, drugs and gangs, mostly. The drugs brought the gangs, and the gangs are bringing the more serious crime. But with any city, there are some good spots. Maybe if you are able to afford it, try Kohler. Other good options are Elkheart Lake (Great in the summer), Plymouth and Sheboygan Falls.

Default Still nice

I raised three kids in Sheboygan, the last ones graduated last year. It is still a very nice place to raise a family. But these other posters are correct, the crime rate is slowly going up. Big city druggies have found Sheboygan to be a place where they can get away with more stuff. But we are still a town where, if someone gets mugged at 4 PM, it makes the paper the next day. So the crime rate is really all relative.

IF you locate to the city itself, look for houses on the Northest, far West, North or South side. Stay away from the central part of the city (to live in, that is). If you locate outside Sheboygan, look towards Howards Grove (5 mi N), Oostburg (10 mi S), Sheboygan Falls (5 mi W) or Kohler (3 mi W). Plymouth (10,000) is about 12 miles west.

The schools are excellent. Very high graduation rate, and a large % go on to college. Lots of nice parks, restaurants, festivals, and nice beaches. The county as a whole has a lot going for it.

And, if you miss the big city, we are only 50 miles north of Milwaukee, and 50 miles south of Green Bay.

Ever been there? Where do you live now? What are you looking for? I see you haven't responded to sillygal or anyone. Was your original post serious?
For some reason I'm thinking it wasn't.
