Wausau
Hello all,
I have now been in Wausau one year, and cant wait to leave. This is the most unfriendlist town I have ever lived in. If you are not from here you are not accepted. I feel that I am a very outgoing, friendly person and have never had problems before until I came here. I do not have children so are not involved in schools etc Have other people had similar issues here, and where do you go to try to make friendships? I tried volunteering, and believe it or not was never called back. I thought they want people to volunteer, and I had all the free time to offer. What are your thoughts?

We moved to Mosinee/Kronenwetter from Chicago 20 years ago. Some of the places I have volunteered at our: Hospice House, Thanksgiving dinner helper, pen pal for local schools, Badger state games (summer and winter), Aspirus gift shop, Marathon County Humane society, meals on wheels, leaf raker, whitewater rafting greeter, Fill a backpack-fill a need, and I have driven people to appointments.
We have made many friends through many different ventures that we have tried. Contact the Volunteer Center of Marathon Co. Mary is great and always looking for help.

Reason: I am sure Mary doesn't want her phone number made public

I listed Mary's phone number because it is the Volunteer Center number. I think she would be happy to have people call her at work since this is her job.

It is still against the Terms of Service to put that here, besides, I can imagine the phone calls she might get from some of the trolls we get on these boards. It isn't a good idea. Use the direct message feature if you want to pass out that information.

I lived in Wausau for about 13 years and felt much the same way at first. I got to be friends with some people at the bank where I worked, and then had more friends than ever. In addition to the volunteering, I would join the local YMCA.

that doesn't really surprise me that much. if you are planted in central wisconsin, i'd say you would be much happier in stevens point. that is a friendlier town, a bit more liberal and has grown to nearly the same size as wausau.

I agree that Stevens Point is friendlier. However, the population comparison is incorrect. The Stevens Point area is much smaller by comparison to the Wausau area. I know this because I live there.
