lol....also be scared of people with agendas posting on city-data! their "good intentions" may give you the wrong impression.

the FIRST time i was actually out in the woods in "bear country" a bear came within 50 yards and was NOT scared of human voices. i was only 12, so i was pretty scared and i've had a "bear phobia" when i'm in bear country, but now i'm not so scared anymore =) i see bears all over in the hayward area.

i live in the middle of madison and there are indeed centipedes that invade my 4th floor apartment. they are agile little things, and when you squish them they leave behind a nasty mess of broken legs. now i trap them with a glass and put them in the stairwell go forth and prosper!

you should be able to avoid drunk drivers for the most part by not driving around late on fri & sat....especially after bar time of course.

and be reallly careful when in milwaukee

Default adding to the list

building snow men and igloos with your 8 year old is the greatest!!!!
I LOVE snow and driving in it requires a little practice if you're used to rushing around, but the key is do EVERYTHING in slow motion....ie....accelerating, braking, drive slower, turn slower...etc....excellent snow tires/studs is also key.

Default Taxes!

Taxes are the scariest things in Wisconsin. They keep growing and they will suck the last dime out of your pockets. Government entities here are constantly seeking hosts to suck dry and appear to have no control over there hunger for more money. We are one of the highest taxed states in the country while income levels are not keeping pace with the rest of the country.

Don't get me wrong, Wisconsin is a nice place to live if you can bear the weather. But the high taxes do mean that some living standards (housing affordability, income levels, job opportunities) are less than other areas of the country.

Beware!

Want to talk about scary ... taxes here in Germany are 19%. No I did not make a typo! They have benefits that go with it though like health care, long maternity leave with your job guaranteed etc. It kinda weighs itself out I suppose in the long run.

June Bugs are Totally Harmless. And Taramoon in one of her posts mentioned that Brown Recluse Spiders are not found in Wisconsin. Tell that to my brother who is a produce manager for a grocery store in La Crosse. Has found 2 of them, both in boxes of bananas. And it was verified!!!

June Bugs were most fascinating to our cats. They would drive em wild. As far as bait for fishing-never knew of anyone who used them when I lived in Wi. We did use these ugly bugs called hellgramites. Worked well for panfish like perch and bluegills.

werewolves....just the other day a fellow?? in Fond du Lac was arrested for breaking into a woman's apartment. He told police that he was a werewolf and could change shapes/forms. Apparently he consumed too much of what Milwaukee is famous for. Seriously, if you google "werewolves in wisconsin" a lot of info on "actual" sightings will appear.
