Default plates

People sell plates as collectors items. You cannot just put them on your car. Go to the WI Department of Transportation site for more info on your license and plates and such. You can get an international license which will be good for 6 months from the starting date you decide on. You will have to get that in your country of origin.... They are simple to get in the States, but can be a bit expensive to get overseas (if England is anything like Italy) even though you get exactly the same document. Anyway, here is a site that should help....

Sound like prepared for the leap. Do not buy the plates just get them when get here so be no hassles. Can buy a car anywhere you would like and then register it in name and address where will be at.Insurance varies on driving record, vehichle type, what type getting and all can shop on net for that and get quotes but with no car yet hard to do.Southside of town seems pretty decent in Eau Claire so good choice.

Mollythemoo-

I hope Little Red Elementary School (on the southwest side) isn't one you had chosen...there's a good chance it will be closed next year due to budget cuts and decreasing enrollment.

Hope the move goes well. I just wanted to mention that
the Altoona area is pretty nice too. Its just a big sub-division of eau claire. I have lived my whole life in the
eau claire area and just thought the high schools there were to big. This schools has been great. They only allow
x amount of kids per teacher. My sons will have a better oppertunity to play the sports they want to play. its just a perfect school not to big and not to small. Housing is pretty reasonable to, and if you like crickets and wildlife move out around the lake. Some nights its allmost to noisy.
They are even building a bunch of bike trails around the
city that all leads to lake altoona park. its going to be pretty cool when its all done. But the south side of Eau
claire is nice too though. For jobs around here? look at
chippewavalleyhelpwanted.com or wisconsin job search

Hi all, thanks for replies and info, mpaul, thanks for LRH info, I had read they were closing...very sad... I actually have my hopes with Manz or Meadowview and my eldest to go to South middle then she'll start Memorial in Sept.

I notice your a realtor? Any ideas for short term rental in catchment that accepts pets? We have no place to go when we land... it's getting close to saying forget it as I won't have my kids shoved from pillar to post. They need some kind of stability!

GLJOHNSON, thanks for the Altoona info, it does seem a fab place too, my biggest issue is I've shipped my horses already and they are at Trinity

ok, not sure what I did there, but this is the rest of the message!

My horses are at Trintiy EC, and my daughters made friends at South Middle via the internet, and they'll all go up to Memorial in September, so I'm hoping to not have to cause too much upheaval... I have also fallen head over heels with two Southside homes, and as soon as I have a paycheck in hand, we'll be buying one of them! Fingers crossed...

Hi, We live in Eau Claire.
Thinks work informally here.
You can deal with realtors for
your new house. Or, you can
rent and look it over until finding
a home as against a house.

Look at the Eau Claire Public Library and
other community web pages. There is a
lot to do for people that are your children's
ages, here. Parks and Rec is a good place for
referral.

We do spend more time outside than you
do in the Isles.

have fun,

HI!
I'm very excited! We have found a place that we can rent month to month so we can get in with the animals, in the right place for the schools, and I can house shop at my leisure! FAB! Now we need some beds... though apparently the carpet is new, so we can live for a night or two... or three!

I hope- hope- hope theres still snow on the ground in three weeks when we land, but not too cold, or the airline wont let the dog and cat fly! -12 celcius is the min temp they'll fly pets into, so I THINK we'll be ok... as long as you don't get any more major cold snaps on that day!

I can't WAIT to get my kids out and about... the summer will be awesome, the winter will be awesome... not keen on the wind, but heck, if you can deal with the never ending gales in the UK... I guess I can deal with most... the spring, the crickets, the smell of fresh cut grass, and fall... oh my gosh... leaves crunching under foot, hot apple cider...theres so much, you just can't believe how different it is over here...I can't wait to come home! It's been tooooooo many years!

I am officially bouncing off the walls here now!

Now I must pack some more... shippers coming in a week... I am not ready!
Bye for now, can't wait to see you all!

Hiya, we're flying into MN St Paul, with NWA who I have been assured are excellent with pets! I need to call somebody though as my pets have now been vaccinated for Rabies, but you can't get tags here... I seem to remember that they must have tags by law, but how to get them? Maybe just re vaccinate? Also need licences?

I saw your web site, SAR ... thats awesome. That would be my dream job you know. I used to breed and show Rottweillers, and some of them went into service... in fact one of my babies is guarding the French side of the Channel Tunnel! I was all set to get a job with a security firm here, they were going to train me, but unfortunately, the guy split from his wife and took off with his dogs to -I think California... it was all a bit sudden and I lost track of him. So disappointed... there I was trying to get fit and ready to go... oh well! He had dogs in the Middle east after the earthquakes, and even Ground Zero in New York. That would have broke my heart, but worth it to find somebody huh.

Anywho, moving on, orchards and farm shops, home grown produce... all sound perfect to me! 3 weeks and counting! Will def be in touch when we get there!Take care!
