Default Teaching in Wisconsin?

I love Wisconsin, and I'm thinking about a relocate. I'm a elementary teacher in California. What's it like for teacher's in Wisconsin? How easy is it to get hired?

my mom and several of my personal friends are teachers, though at the middle and high school levels. my mom in particular is having a hard time with her school and NCLB - she's the kind of teacher that actually wants her kids to, you know, do work and actually earn a grade. the school isn't so hot on that; they'd rather give handouts and lower standards to "show percentage improvement." set the bar low enough and everyone can jump over it right?

anyway i dont know how all that relates to the younger kids. as far as getting hired goes i do not have any factual data but the word is usually that there's no shortage of teachers looking for a job...

If you are a male, going by your name, you might have a slightly easier time getting a teaching job in WI but overall, it won't be all that easy. Most jobs get many, many applications. You will also need to get certified in WI before they really consider you, your CA license probably won't transfer over to WI.

Default WI schools

Choose a higher populated area, such as the Madison, Milwaukee, Green Bay Area or Fox Cities Areas. The rural schools are loosing population and many new hire teachers do not have job security. De Pere, Wrightstown, Greenville and Brookfield are particularly nice.

Article about teacher shortages ( in the southern WI area)
JS Online: A+ demand: Teacher shortages forecast

I find the above article to be misleading and more applicable to future conditions. Competition for teaching jobs is high currently. Many openings are filled internally. I know several school districts that do not hire teachers from outside the district unless you know the right people.
