I just had to speak up for the memory of what was Jilbert's. They were amazing, but they got sold out to a large company and I have heard it hasn't been the same since.

Also, hang in there, and try not to compare so much. That is part of college--going away and realizing home gave you so much, yet getting to experience new places and new people. Really, I don't think there are two more states alike than Wisconsin and the UP.

I think Kwik Trip gas stations may have started in WI, and they are great. Love the brats -- "Brahhts" by the way not the way CO folk say it that sounds like naughty children... Too, they have the "roller bites" some sort of wonderful chicken log... WI has lots of great candy makers as well as the beer... and the Fests like OktoberFest in La Crosse and such are the best!!

The Ringling Brothers Circus is from Wisconsin.
The very first typewriter was invented in Wisconsin.
The first gas-powered tractor was invented in Racine,WI
The first commercial hydroelectric plant was invented in Appleton,WI
Are there any sport fishermen here? Is anyone familiar with Evinrude? Ole Evinrude of Milwaukee invented the outboard gasoline engine for boat.
A.O. Smith invented the steel frame for the automobile in Milwaukee. This frame was adopted by Chevrolet, Buick, and Chrysler.
The clothes drier was invented in Two Rivers,WI.

Wisconsin has alot of firsts to be proud of.

Osterizer is what is says on the blender I've got. But yes, Oster. Made in Milwaukee,WI. The blender in my house was made in the early 1970s, and it still works today. It still chops up ice and works quite nicely. They don't make appliances like that anymore.
